Who is Yorick?
Yorick is the dead jester from Hamlet, you might recognise him:
In the play, Yorick is a memory of a "fellow of infinite jest" (like you). Here, it represents theatre: timeless and classic, but in need of a revival. Also it just lets me have a sick tagline.
What is Yorick Live?
Yorick Live is a live-arts discovery platform for Meanjin (Brisbane), built to get more eyes on theatre, and make it more accessible for those who aren't in the door.
The Problem (And The Fix)
Let's be honest: Indie shows don't get the recognition they deserve. They aren't "bad", just hidden. Littered across Facebook events, expiring Instagram stories, and frantic word-of-mouth one week before opening night.
But what about one website?
Wow. Truly. If I do say so myself ourselves.
We're fixing "app-game" that being in the theatre scene is. One, clean place for listings, times, and little details that make a night at your local theatre effortless. We're starting in Meanjin, city by city, stage by stage, until "I didn't realise it was on" isn't an excuse anymore.
Who is behind all this?
Just hi!me, a solo dev and artist with a big dream and a love for the scene (the "we" is manifestation). Yorick Live is focused on the local ecosystem:
